LEVITT AMP NORTH ADAMS
This past summer, MCLA’s Berkshire Cultural Resource Center was awarded the Levitt Amp Grant which brought ten weeks of FREE live music to North Adam’s Colgrove Park. Colgrove Park was underutilized by the North Adams community until Levitt AMP North Adams brought life to the public space. Levitt AMP featured performances by Bella’s Bartok, Wild Adriatic, The Seratones and more, as well as opening sets by local performers such as Rebel Alliance and Smash Frequency. Local sponsors of the event included MASS MoCA, MCLA, Bright Ideas Brewing, and Grazie Italian Restaurant, Northern Berkshire Community Coalition, Williamstown Chamber of Commerce and Excelsior Inc.

Recent graduate of MCLA, Chris Handschuh was actively involved with Levitt AMP North Adams under his position of Stage Manager. He catered to artists as well as worked with student volunteers from the college, offering them insight and guidance on how their classroom knowledge could be applied in the real world. When asked what he enjoyed most about working with Levitt, he replied
I like that I was able to share my knowledge and experience with student volunteers from the performing arts management class because I learned so much of what I know from volunteering at performing arts events as an arts management student at MCLA.
I really hope Levitt gets another year because it was a great way for North Adams to bring new life to Colegrove Park and inspire a greater sense of community through music.
